Nars Haul

Blogmas Day 18

I recently ran out of foundation and decided to try out some new Nars products. Sheer glow has always been my favourite, and one that I always go back to, so when I was repurchasing it I also snapped up their new tinted moisturiser. Since I was already being naughty I added new lover velvet lip pencil in too!

Anyone who owns sheer glow will agree that one of the main problems with it is that it doesn't come with a pump. Meaning you pour out too much foundation. I decided that I would purchase the pump as it was only £3 and meant I wouldn't loose as much product in the long run.

New lover lip pencil is very similar in colour to orgasm blush. It's very moisturising and gives a good amount of colour in one swipe.

I have only used the tinted moisturiser once, my first oughts are that it feels quite sticky in the skin. I waited maybe 5 minutes before setting the TM and still my face felt tacky. I'm going to try it with a primer tomorrow to see if that makes any difference.

Have to say that space nk give the best samples ever. By terry rose de baume, eve lom cleanser and living proof face mask.

L'oreal #297 - ultimate red lip

Blogmas Day 17

Today I thought I would share with you my new favourite lip colour. if you read my blog you will notice I never wear dark lip colours. I tend to stay away from them out of fear I will look ridiculous, and draw too much attention to myself. I decided to try out L'oreal #297 As I had seen it on Cheryl Cole and thought it looked striking on her, and if I was going to try a red lip I may as well try the most vibrant!

I think the shade suits me, It lasted 3 hours on the lips without fading, which I thought was really good. I'm looking forward to wearing this lip colour to some Christmas parties I have coming up.

What's in my makeup bag?

I cant believe today is Blogmas day 12. This month is definitely flying in and it wont be long until Christmas is truly upon us.  Today I thought I would share with you what is currently in my makeup bag.  I'm always changing the blush and lip products I carry around but the face products have been firm favourites for a few months.  My makeup bag is Marc by Marc Jacobs, and I purchased it in the summer sales.

Real Techniques Buffing brush

It applies foundation like a dream, making skin look and feel air brushed.  As the brush is quite small its easy to work into tricky areas like around the nose and eyes.

Real Techniques Powder brush

This is the biggest brush I own.  What I love about it is that it picks up just the right amount of product in the centre of the brush. The outer bristles that don't have any powder on them help to work in the product on my face.  I mainly use this brush for apply bronzer to my cheeks and temples.

Hakuhodo Blush brush

This is the most expensive face brush I own.  I ordered it off their website in America and it took 5 days to arrive which I thought was really impressive.  It applies blush beautifully to the cheeks, collecting just the right amount of product per application.

Benefit Hoola Bronzer

I try different bronzers, but I always come back to this one.  Its the perfect shade of brown for me.  It doesn't contain any orange tones, and because its matte there isn't any shimmer either.

Benefit Coralista Blush

I had been using Nars orgasm until recently, but when it ran out I decided to hunt through the shades I already own before I went out and purchased anymore,  I came across Coralista, I had bought this at least 3 years ago and never really used it that much.  Its actually very similar to Nars orgasm, I have definitely fallen back in love with Coralista.

Benefit Browzing

The perfect kit to fill in my brows.  It comes with a matte powder to fill in the brows and a wax to set the powder. The brush that comes with the little set is actually quite good.

Maybelline the Falsies Mascara

This is a recent purchase so its too early to say whether its a winner but so far so good.  It has a curve brush that gets deep into the lashes.

Maybelline Lumi Touch

The drug store answer to YSL touche eclat.  It luminates under the eyes perfectly and stays put all day.  It doesn't cling to any creases or lines - i love it.

Carmex moisture plus

Carmex is the only lip balm that doesnt't leave my lips chapped and dry.  When I spotted that it came in a sheer pink tint I was very excited.  I absolutely love this lip balm and the sheer tint it leaves on my lips.

Bobbi Brown corrector

I spotted this on some blogs recently, and thought it was a product I needed to try.  I have quite bad under eye bags and thought this might be able to correct the blueness I suffer from.  So far I do like it, but i need to make sure there is no other product under my eye.  The MUA used the BB eye cream with this and it just looked like a gloopy mess,  I need to apply my eye cream at least 20 minutes before any under eye product or it wont last.

L'Oreal Lipstick

My first red lipstick and I'm in complete love.  Its the perfect shade of red for me according to my FABB buddies, and I have to say I agree.  Post on this little beauty coming soon.

Apologies for the long post, hope you all managed to get to the end without falling asleep.

Whats in your makeup bags?

Ciaté Velvet Manicure

Blogmas Day 11

I purchased this in July and have only got round to reviewing it for you guys now.  It was an impulse buy, which resulted in me picking up the velvet instead of the caviar set in Sephora.  After my initial disappointment I decided to give the velvet set a go.

I chose the Cabaret polish as I felt it would be a wearable colour on both nails and toes.  It comes with a guide as to how to apply the polish and velvet powder.

1 Clean nail beds
2 Apply nail polish
3 Sprinkle on some velvet dust
4 Remove excess dust with brusg
5 Repeat steps if necessary

Polish, velvet dust and a little brush are included in the kit

My Thoughts

The polish is the best part of the Ciaté set.  Its a beautiful wine purple colour that applies opaque with one coat.

The crushed velvet dust is easy to apply and comes with a shaker to limit the amount of dust that comes out.  I found it hard to apply to the side of the nail so i emptied the dust into a pot and dipped my nail in and cleaned the excess dust off with the little brush.

If I'm completely honest I hated the velvet dust.  My nails felt like there was fluff stuck to them, and in my opinion it just looked messy.  I tried it on my toes to see if would look any better there and it just looked worse.

Ciaté polishes are hard to beat, so Im happy that I'm still able to use the polish.

Urban Decay eye shadow primer

Blogmas day 22
I've been going through a phase of not wearing any eyeshadow lately and I must admit I have really been enjoying it. It cuts 5 minutes off my makeup routine every morning which means an extra cup of tea - score!
I got Urban Decays primer potion in sin recently as a gift and decided to wear it for the first time today. I remember looking at this product in the shop and thinking what a gimmick, but I must admit its fantastic. It doesn't crease on e eyelid at all, it's highly pigmented, it can be worn alone to give a natural gold shade to the eye lid and lastly it does what it says on the tube - keeps eyeshadow in place all day.

It really is a winning product and something I wish I had tried ages ago. I live that it can be worn alone for an easy makeup look, or can be used as a base for a dramatic smoky eye. The packaging is also a lot better than the original primer potion that came in the bottle. I'm definitely going to enjoy using this throughout Christmas.

Have you tried any Urban Decay eye products?

Laura Mercier silk creme foundation

Blogmas Day 20

This is my second tube of LM foundation. The first time I bought it I got it in the shade cream ivory and was really disappointed, I knew as soon as I applied it that the foundation was off. It went clumpy on my face and made my skin look horrible. I took it back to the store and the MA assured me it wasn't off and I was just applying it wrong! I left the store angry and swearing never to buy LM again.

Two months later I'm using LM foundation lol. I went to Space nk and a lovely MA asked could she try it on me for a demonstration, I was a little hesitant as I had such bad luck with it before. However, once she applied it to my face I immediately fell in love with it and reconfirmed my thought that the previous tube I bought was off.

It's definitely true what they say about this foundation, a little goes a long way as its highly pigmented. It's very easy to blend and the lasting power on me is 8 hours which I think is reasonable enough since I don't retouch my makeup during the day. For reference I purchased this in the shade beige ivory and apply it with a real techniques buffing brush.

John freida

Blogmas Day 21

This post comes a day late as I've been suffering with the flu all week. With my family being away in USA I have definitely been feeling very sorry for myself.

I wanted to share with you a product that I have been loving for the last few months. John Freida luxurious volume spray. You apply it to wet hair before blower yin and it leaves your hair with a beautiful glossy feel. I absolutely love it and every time I use it I feel like I've just stepped out of the hairdressers.

I'm no expert when it comes to styling my hair so any help I can get I'm always glad of. This little product is a must have for me. I use it alongside my argon oil when blow drying my hair then apply a tiny spot of argon oil when it finished to banish any fly away hairs.

You can pick the volume spray up from any boots or superdrug and the argon oil can be bought from Sally's.

It's Blogmas Day 10

Today has been a long day. I returned home from London late last night, and had to work today so I've been like a zombie all day.

I thought I would share a small London haul with you all before I retreat to bed.

Like a true beauty blogger I spent most of my time looking at makeup in all the beautiful department stores.

I made a few cheeky purchases, mainly from drug stores that I am wry excited to try.

Maybelline - the Falsies Volume Express Mascara

Carmex sheer pink lip balm

Bobbi Brown - under eye corrector in Bisque

Maybelline - Dream Lumi Touch

Rimmel - Scandal Eyes Kohl

I only bought I clothing items and they both came from Primark.

Cream knit with gold foil love print and black knit skirt with leopard belt.

My most exciting purchase has to be my rose gold ipad cover from Ted Baker. My husband said I was being a tad presumptuous thinking I was getting one, but I know I am - haha!

Sorry it's a short one tonight.

Welcome to Blogmas Day 8

I'm in London with my bestie this weekend for our traditional girls trip. I love London at Christmas it looks so magical.

Today I thought I would show you what we have been doing so far through pictures - enjoy! :)

First stop Portobello market. Beautiful shops and great cafes all hidden away on side streets - perfect.

Breakfast at my favourite cafe in London Gail's. it's located in portobello market, and it does seriously good food. I got a muffin, eggs, bacon and tomato. while my friend decided on brioche French toast with rhubarb.

After breakfast we headed for a walk down Oxford street and Bond street. We stopped in amazement outside the beautifully decorated Cartier.

I want a present just like that please!!

We walked on round to Knightsbridge, stopping to look at the Ritz hotel.

Hope you enjoyed my London journey so far.

Vita liberata Tan - 3 different products

Blogmas Day 7

As you can probably tell from my previous posts I love to have a subtle glow on a daily basis. I very picky with my tan, I like it to be olive toned instead of yellow (piz buin and No 7). It has to last on my skin and not run down the plug hole after one rinse.

When it comes to tan I've tried them all, ans the problem is always the same, it never sticks to my chest area. Everywhere else is perfect apart from this one area.  I had given up hope until the lovely Andrea from Rouge introduced me to Vita Liberata tanning products.
It was love at first application.

The scent wasn't detectable, It wasn't patchy, it lasted 5 days and the best bit was , it took to my chest area.  The spray tans are definitely the best.  Andrea mixed two shades to give me the perfect glow on my wedding day and it faded without going patchy.
Below is a review of my Favourite Vita Liberata products:

24ct Silken Shimmer

It leaves the skin instantly without any lingering scent.  It dries immediaitely and doesn't stain clothing - very important!  The shimmer isn't obvious, but when the light cathes the skin you can see a subtle shimmer which i love.  I apply one layer of this too my whole body and the colour pay off is gorgeous.  It's perfect when your in a rush, or weren't expecting to go out.  Its definitely an instant pick-me-up.

Sheer Silken Moose

Another great tanning product. It dries instantly into the skin, and takes about 6 hours to develop fully on me.   It usually lasts 5-6 days before I need to touch up. What I love about this tan is that it doesn't streak or cling to problem areas such as knees and elbows. A bottle usually lasts me 2 months, which I think is good considering I usually it each week.

PHenomenal 2-3 week tan
I bought this when it was on special offer at boots.  I got the moose formula as I like that it dries instantly on the skin.  If I'm honest I this isn't my favourite Vita Liberata product.  The colour I get is similar to the sheer silken moose, but is double the price.  I did 3 applications following the instructions, but it only lasted 1-2 weeks on me.

I don't find the tanning process a chore, infact I quite like it so this isn't a product that i would necessarily purchase again.

If your on the market for a winter glow, then do go and visit your nearest Vita Liberata retailer and discuss the range with them.
